Can't help either i think these 2 will have to be made.
Donald O'Connor and Ethel Merman - You're Just In Love
Nat King Cole - Affair To Remember
I did have a go, but getting decent quality masters to work from is almost impossible.. There is a KV version of Affair to Remember listed as 1950's Standards, but when I listened to the sample, it was not as 'sweet' an arrangement as the Cole version. I didn't download it, even though I do a Nat tribute act!

I also found a more 'jazz' oriented arrangement on YT of You're Not In Love, with scrolling lyrics but it has side by side lyrics, and it doesn't wipe. ALso I think getting a producer to make a commercial version of it would be unlikely as it is an Irving Berlin song, and the IB Estate are very iffy about granting new licences for any of his works.

Same here , had a try at You're just in love , but results were really poor as source audio is (pardon my french) Crap!!
If anyone finds a respectable audio source i would like to try again.

Yes, at times it is hard to get a usable backing track. I wish I knew why some older recordings simply won't clean up! I have quite a few 50's 60's R&R songs that I would like to do ,but the vocal removal sounds awful

I have tried using both a vinyl rip of the OST and a lift from the DVD, both in FLAC format. I get the impression that the OST was taken from the movie MAG track, rather than the optical track. Also it was not common in the early 50's to re-record the OST's in a studio, (except in the case of films like White Christmas where one of the stars was contracted to a different recording company (Rosemary Clooney).

It is mainly down to the way recordings were made in the days of two or four track tape. Quite often tracks were 'bounced' down to a single track to make way for other tracks to be recorded, and even with good quality tape and heads part of the signal was either lost or compressed.
If you consider the problems that they had just getting John Lennon's vocal cleanly lifted from the piano backing from a cassette recording from the 70's, then you can imagine the problems faced with 1950's tracks (geared for the 78rpm shellac market) that were distinctly lo-fi until the advent of vinyl made the need for better quality mastering!

Hi folks.
I stumbled on this on YouTube.
It is a generated version of The Beatles song "Now And Then" in their true sixties style and is fantastic!!
May I ask please if this can kindly be produced as a karaoke track ( I for one would be singing it!)
So many thanks in advance.
Best regards to all.

I just undertook and finished the most productive step in cleaning up my collection for my songbookslive list. I edited the Advanced Renamer registry info to allow 300,000 entries. Loaded up my whole karaoke folder and replaced patterns "10000" with "10,000" (specifically for 10,000 Maniacs), "Im" with "I'm" and removed all instances of ", The" from the whole collection. Then I loaded up the whole collection with KJFM, so it could test the zips and automatically rename the compressed MP3 and CDG within. Took about two hours for KJFM to load and process 277,000 files. It was a bit of a wait, but it was well worth it, even though I am sure to find other naming issues, but these ones were the glaring ones. KJFM found 57 files with problems and my song list is a lot neater with fewer instances of one song listed multiple times because of a grammatical error or strange name formatting.

When wildcard renaming ", the" , I always add provisos:

1: If ", the" is part of the phrase ", the - " then simply delete;
that takes care of band names starting with "The".

2: If ", the" is at the end then replace the second occurence
of " - " with " - The "; that sorts out songs which start with the
word "The".

3: As with item 2 above, same with ", A " ; never ever
understood that logic of taking an a from the beginning and
tacking it onto the end of a title.

Hi Everyone

Had some requests that I don't have, and wondering if anyone has them by any chance.
They are

Donald O'Connor and Ethel Merman - You're Just In Love

Neil Sedaka - Solitaire

Nat King Cole - Affair To Remember

Josh Groban - Pure Imagination
Was unable to get a decent split of the Ethel Merman one but have been able to create a workable Nat King Cole Backing and hence a karaoke file.
Let me know if it's useable.

It is amazing how much those little things can clean up your song listings.

Not bad at all, very little vocal artifact, but I think this was taken from the re-recording for an album at Capitol with a new, swingier arrangement by Nelson Riddle (rather than the original more shuffle type arrangement that was closer to the one used in the movie) single release that was put out at the time of the movie release. Not sure why Nat's version became so big, as Vic Damone sang the song for the opening credits of the movie, but his version has sort of slipped into obscurity.
