One of the first scanning electron micrographs of Ebola Zaire virus. Known as a "false-colored" scanning electron micrograph, because when things are that small, there is no color per se. It was probably made around the mid-1970s by Frederick Murphy of the CDC (Center for Disease Control). The sample would be in cell culture at a magnification of about about 160,000x.
