Would anybody know the best source for individual downloads, ie from the Rigmar collection? I've been through the Zoom collection and the other recent uploads on internetarchive but have struggled to find any other sources that aren't torrents - I wouldn't imagine my current equipment could handle such large torrent downloads...

Hi Fchat, the torrent downloads are not big in comparison to the rigmar collections. A typical karaoke CD is about 100 Mb and takes less than 5 minutes to download. There aren't really any download sites (that I am aware of) for karaoke tracks, except here! So at least you are in the right place!

A Cautionary Tale: I've recently had a complete failure of an older laptop, from its hybrid drive I have recovered all of my business files, accounts, menus, quizzes, Music Bingo, price lists, artwork, spreadsheets etc - everything. I set up my main laptop with a new 4tb SSD but while transferring files my main drive failed, I tried my backup drive but that also (I guess) failed because it read absolutely nothing, i've no idea what happened. A local computer tech store tried but could not recover anything from either drive (WD My Book 3tb USB 3) both completely dead. I have lost over 200,000 karaoke files, 250,000 music tracks and 6000 MP4 music videos, probably in excess of 2.5tb and 17 years of collecting. Absolute disaster, I open my bar for the summer season in less than 2 weeks. So, say, downloading for 10 days at 50,000 files a day would probably do it, if it was the only thing I had to do - not a chance. Right now, communal cloud storage is looking a great idea.

I can probably collect enough for early season shows, without too much repetition and keep downloading during the daytime but last year between May and October I probably hosted over 150 shows during the 185 days we were open.

Please be careful people, backup, backup, backup - don't let this happen to you, good luck.

I feel for you IbizaBri. I lost everything digital 2 and a half years ago to a ransomware attack. Not only did it lock me out on my main PC, it then backed it all up overnight!!! Gone! As luck would have it, all my photos from me being born to date were on my laptop (I lost 12 months), the music and karaoke was backed up in several pubs (the best backup as far as I am concerned, albeit a little out of date) but even so it has taken me this long, firstly going through all the music files (January 2021 to Aug, then the karaoke (July 2022 to Feb this year). Its still not up to date, I have 800 torrents not downloading, but it is back to what it was, if not better in some ways. Keep your chin up and get round to the neighbouring pubs!

First question: Why have you come to the Chat Room of a torrent site to ask where

to download stuff that's not torrents?? No attack intended, just very curious.

 

I wouldn't give houseroom to RigMar's multi-gigabyte uploads. His uploader status

was taken away on this site; he took my freshly-ripped karaoke uploads, retitled

them by removing the disc-catalog number at the start and put a generic name in

brackets at the end of the filename - didn't even bother to remove spelling errors

and ID3 tags.

 

He claimed to be an expert on torrents, telling us that it was not possible to seed

more than 25 torrents at any one time (right then, a few years back I was seeding

more than 300 torrents on my 10-year old i7/32gb laptop)>

 

Many of his files have graphics glitches, I remember Scotty tried to sort out some

of them, I think that he gave up in the end.

 

You'd do better to search for karaoke on the Main GLO site

specifying Music in the dropdown box (to exclude the porn and James Corden

videos) and downloading as much as you can, drop a PM to any uploader of torrents

thathave no seeding asking for a re-seed; or even here if it's one of my torrents.

If any of those 800 torrents aren't seeding you could always drop a PM to the uploader

and ask for a re-seed, or if anybody has left a comment or a thankyou a PM to them

might get you a re-seed as well.

Several people have told me that It doesn't exist, but since I have a

copy of the back cover (2xcd Kidz Rock) then I know that it's out there

somewhere.

 

Looks like I'll have to post it with a missing track

Thanks for that Wilkinp4, sorry to hear you've suffered it too. My backup drive also had all my iphone(s) backups 5, 6, 8, X and 11, my computer till backups, 2 x PC registry backups - all my photos, my website backups, however the drive is currently with a friend in Belfast where it is undergoing a forensic scan to see if anything can be recovered.

I have a bar in Ibiza, we are the only place with Karaoke in at least a 15 mile radius and certainly the only English bar in this resort, so nobody to backup with. I guess however much it costs, cloud storage it has to be for the future. I am awaiting delivery from Amazon of a Crucial X8 2tb SSD (serious bit of kit but only €145), it should be here in a couple of days, so I will start again, downloading like crazy, I open in 10 days time, then I'll be working 10-14 hours a day, every day until 31st October, I can't wait, Heineken, Red Wine, Gin &Tonic and Jagermeister shots will keep me going.

A friend in the USofA has just bought it on eBay and will rip when it arrives, so I shall

post the other disc set (which actually has the same EZP catalog number) first. That

shouldbe done by tomorrow - trouble re-aligning the scans.
