Hi,

I have a KV folder on MEGA, with about 4,900 files (random tracks I have collected) if you are interested

This is the hidden content, please

DaveyDee, not sure if you are bothered with the storage you have, and I hope you don't mind me pointing out that you have about 900 dup's. I love your filing system, but sadly, it hasn't worked. Search for "Seal" in your folders, you will see. Thanks for the share though. Not sure how many I have/have not yet, but fun to go through.

I presume you are referring to the KV Share.

I have done a search on 'Seal' as you suggested on both the source material as well as the MEGA share, and I can only see probably 7 actual dupes with different codes for the same tracks (Some sort of private coding, the download code - which by the way is traceable by RECISIO! - and the catalogue code). In that search, several of the tracks are in three different formats, Non-vocal, with backing vocals, and with guide tracks, and one case of KV releasing a re-recorded version (upgrade if you will).

Also in that search I got tracks from Seals and Crofts, Dan Seals, Brady Seals, even things like 'Sealed with a Kiss', and all those only amounted to 129 entries for over 2Tb of storage...

My post was a collection of my own tracks, tracks on a laptop I purchased from a retiring KJ, and mirrored tracks from other posts on here, so I am not suprised there are a few duplicates.

I am gradually sorting through all my tracks, and where I can identify duplicates, I am whittling them down. Unfortunately i have yet to find a decent duplicate file finder that uses AI to 'listen' to each track, rather than just comparing Title, File Size or CRC checksums.

I got the download from DW, but they were in artist order, and the Disc codes had no track numbers, so I am having to edit them all manually... Got as far as the letter H so far, taking forever, especially when some of the tracks are mis-attributed!!

Sorry about the issues you are having. The two Millenium SCDG's (905 and 910) were ripped by me several years ago with Power SCDG ripper, I never imagined it would have been wrong in labeling, so I never even checked them.

I notice a lot of people here have their music titled with the disc ID first. My whole collection is Artist - Title - DiscID, because it any search will automatically give me the Artist in alphabetical order, and I generally find it the most efficient for me. I have no use for the DiscID, as all my singers ask for the song title, and some ask for specific manufacturers. So I was wondering, aside from checking to make sure you have the whole Disc, or collection, is there some advantage I am not seeing, to have the DiscID before the Artist and Title? Cheers

(Yes, I know I have many dupes, I am slowly working my way through my collection to remove them and drop the Rigmar files from my list)

I am not sure why ID-TITLE-TRACK became the standard. It may have something to do with a throwback to the Disc days, when you would first of all have to find the disk, often in the requisite manufacturer folder or disc case! And you got used to which track the request was on the disc, a memory skill that is pretty much lost nowadays with database searches

However it is only one standard. As you say ARTIST-TITLE-ID is more common in the US as is REVERSE ARTIST (LASTNAME,FIRSTNAME)-TITLE-ID.

I think it very much an each to his own, and nowadays with the ability to search even fragments of a song title or artist, it doesn't really matter where the DISC-ID is located. I even have fun sometimes - when people come and ask for songs - to type in things like "Don't let George Go Down On Elton" or "Rose West" just to see the reactions of my singers!

I would say though that those of us who remember the old days, we will have identified the best versions of tracks for general use by the disc ID. I much prefer the original SF version of Kingston Town, to the later SFG recording, even over later, more quality recordings, because it does what I want it to do.

Not a problem. That was always a problem with ripping discs that lifted the details from the web. I usually ripped my new discs before there were track listings available, so had to manually load the track details. In the case of older discs I bought, I always double-checked listings to the inserts, mind you there were occasions where even that wasn't foolproof... Often the inserts would go out to print, only to find the manufacturer had changed the track order on the pressed disc!

With all of the excitement of multiple SC's being posted, I've realised that I

have a track missing that's not duped on any of the non-SC10### discs.

Anybody have SC8435-04 please ??

cheers
