DaveyDee Posted September 29, 2023 Report Posted September 29, 2023 hi guys. yo might think this is a silly question, but, i have received a karaoke file as an mp4 format. what can i use to play this as a karaoke file with ther lyrics on screen? Most KJ Hosting software should be able to play it, as will anything like Media Player, etc. With some mp4 files, you may need to load a codec pack, but they can be easily downloaded such as the K-Lite codec pack

It wouldn't play the mp4 so I will use vlc for it.

Virtual DJ certainly will, but we all use Show Presenter by Sax'N'Dotty (trust me, I'd love to move them off it) and that, unfortunately doesn't. Which is a bloody shame, as I have a lot of .MP4's that I can't use x

No Karafun doesn't either. Like I say, my choice is Virtual DJ; I just haven't yet found software that will transfer Singer histories between the various programs. What's really annoying, is that anyone with a half an ounce of Database programming knowledge could do it in a day x

It plays all my karaoke files. X

Tinkering with my karaoke drives just after I woke up, I managed to delete my complete SC 2400's - on three different drives !!! - and rather wait the 48hours or so for my undelete program to do it's thing, does anyone still have those up on Mega ??

Sax n Dotty did put out one very useful utility (which has been surpassed by newer progs like MP3Tag) which renamed the 'content' (the MP3 and the CDF) of a zipfile to the name of the zipfile.
mikeb69 Posted September 29, 2023 Report Posted September 29, 2023 I think Wilkin has limited space on his MEGA drive, but I have been saving the SC posts to my own space, you can grab what you need from This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up Davey Dee still has SC up post on page 254 1

paybpipty1 Posted September 29, 2023 Report Posted September 29, 2023 @BJtheDJ hi sir...left a PM...kindly check... thanks

The newer Pro version has foregone it's WinAmp history and is now a self-contained application; and it added some very useful new features into the mix. The interface is still the same, and yeah, you will need a second media player application (hence why I prefer Virtual DJ, but there's other reasons for that too), but it's not the dinosaur it used to be x

billy1 Posted September 29, 2023 Report Posted September 29, 2023 (edited) Not used it myself but have seen shows stumbling along with it. It's based on WinAmp from what I've seen. Sax n Dotty did put out one very useful utility (which has been surpassed by newer progs like MP3Tag) which renamed the 'content' (the MP3 and the CDF) of a zipfile to the name of the zipfile. Started out using Sax n Dotty on a 2012 Mac Pro with Windows 11 installed with bootcamp. Worked fine and it was a price I could afford. Went out and bought a new Lenovo laptop and Dell desktop having the new Intel chips with built in graphics as well as graphics on board as I remember it. Just before Covid. Anyways, bought a second license for the desktop, but could not get the external monitors to work correctly for lyric readout on either laptop or desktop. Two totally different specs of computers except for how the graphics worked. Talked to Sax n Dotty tech over quite a few emails and went thru the issue but could not resolve it. At that time, Sax n Dotty would not work correctly regarding the external HDMI monitor with exactly the same problem on both computers. Maybe they've updated the software. Hopefully. Asked for my money back on the 2nd license, because it was obviously their software at fault, and they stopped responding to me. The hell with that. Not gonna fly to Britain so I can squeeze my $70 back out of them. Switched to VirtualDJ. No problems on any of my computers! Edited September 29, 2023 by billy1
