Sounds like something as simple as a private Facebook group would do the trick but as far as I'm concerned, if a few of the frequent fliers on this forum had my email if GloTorrents goes <poof> ... I'd be happy.

In the meantime, perhaps should the most immediate consideration be clicking on the donation tab?

I have found another corrupt file that fails to unzip.

I may as well give some background here...

I am taking Davey Dee's collection as a starting point and doing some serious tidying up on it.

I am unzipping every file and loading them all into a tag editor.

A huge number of songs are not tagged at all, and many, many songs are tagged incorrectly or inconsistently.

This is not a criticism of Davey Dee, far from it - it is just how these big collections are.

However, I have a few weeks free and I am determined to get the collection as readable and as searchable as possible.

I want to find as many of the following as possible:

 

Spelling mistakes

Artist and Title the wrong way round

Make all instances of a band or a singer "consistent" so they all land together when searching.

Root out faulty songs

 

Then fill in all tags properly and rename the files to match the tags.

This should make for a much improved collection.

 

Expectations:

I am human. My eyes are bad.

But, I have high standards and I am a bit OCD, so this should give some decent results!!!

 

I will give more details later....

I do, but remember when I said I was a bit OCD

I may well just use that one, but for example:

 

I am just tagging Cocaine by Eric Clapton from DK Karaoke.

There seems to be 2 different versions.....

 

I remember many years back, I was contributing to a project called "The Sunfly 100% project"

The aim was to go through every single track and check for errors, even tiny flecks and speckles in the graphics.

I found some errors where tracks had been used from different albums as it was "the same track" but the intro sunfly graphic was slightly different, so you could see it wasn't from the same album.

I reported it and was told it wasn't that important....

So much for 100%

In the grand scheme of life and the universe it probably isn't important, but when you are a bit autistic like me..... it grinds my gears lol!
