Hi. Did you get a chance to upload the definitive karaoke collection yet @leenew Karaoke ?

No I haven't uploaded it yet.

 

Here is a quick update.

Slightly longer update:

 

The problem is that when I add a new manufacturer (the last one was Party Tyme / Sybersound) I have to go through and do a complete pass by artist and a complete pass by title to get things as consistent as I want it to be.

This means slowly scrolling through the list in an editor (I use MP3Tag) correcting all the tags.

This takes absolutely ages as I am working with all 180,000ish files all at once, making changes as I spot errors.

It is wrecking my eyesight/brain!

I am half-way through the last pass so I should be able to start uploading it in about a week or 2.

I think because life is too short, if I decide to add another manufacturer, I will have to deal with it as a separate entity because I don't have the energy to do any more complete passes!

 

It is hard to explain what I mean by "getting it all consistent", but mainly it is things like:

 

making sure all bands are consistent - no R.E.M. --- REM 3 Degrees --- Three Degrees etc.

Making sure all artists are consistent - no Diana Ross & Lionel Richie --- Lionel Richie & Diana Ross etc.

Same with titles - no Fool Such as I --- (Now & Then) There's a Fool Such as I etc.

And this is while checking for spelling, artist/title wrong way round etc.

The amount of mistakes has been jaw-dropping!

I have made literally thousands of alterations.

There is so much to do...

 

However, I am confident this will be the cleanest large collection out there by far.

If a few people decide to use it, it would be good if any errors are reported so the collection can be constantly improved.

 

oh, by the way...

I hesitate to call it the definitive collection!

It won't be for everybody as some people like to collect *everything*.

I am stripping most of the full vocal tracks and the tracks with no graphics.

 

And a final caveat...

Although I have swapped out any incorrect tracks I have found... I am nowhere close to having played every single track, so there will still be incorrect tracks lurking in there I am sure.

But.... I have done my best!!

That is a great point. Just checked through them (it's been a while) and I believe you are correct.

They all seem to be MIDI conversions by Atoy.

Shame that,some great trax in there just pants music.

I'll stick them in the reserves just incase. Thanks for all the effort uploading them.
