For those that host live shows, what software are you using.  Can you tell me why you like it?  Was it pretty easy to learn?  I'd like to try something new, perhaps something where they can look up my collections online and pick a song right there from their phone.

I use the often slammed, often cursed Karma software. It works great for me. But, I am very computer literate and don't have to ask for customer support, which is where all the complaints stem from with the creator. It does have songlist search and online submission capability, but I don’t use it, not worth my investment for amount of gigs I do.

It costs $50 per year. You are able to upload your own songlist. This takes your own skills at gathering the names of your files in a text file, then I use Excel to search for duplicate names to remove,etc. Then you upload them by a textfile with your sorted filenames. I taught myself this process, so takes a bit of time but it works well. EDIT: As others have noted, this one too has a QR code you can put on your music screen or print on small sheets around the room. This really gets people using the songlist.

 

The main interface allows searching by Artist/Title. I have singers bring me their requests by paper. Works for me, of course as long as you have internet access.

 

Now, there is a bit of a lag when users "SEARCH" it's from 6-10 secs, but they get used to it and have fun going through the titles.

I am using the OpenKJ system - it's been around for a while, and the hosting software and tools are free to download and use.

 

The online request system does have a monthly fee around $10US and is expandable if you have a company with multiple operators.

 

The owner/developer sadly passed away a few years ago, so not much happening for new features, but the last released versions are very robust and do most things I need.

 

Client software for singers was available as a phone app, but there is a very good webpage version that works well on any smartphone. A QR code leading to your booking webpage can be posted around the venue for singers to scan, then they can browse the song library and book in. I also run a 'kiosk' client on a wifi connected tablet that they can use.

 

If you prefer to keep existing hosting software to manage your song library and singer rotation, there is an agent client which can just notify you of incoming requests, but the OKJ hosting software is better with request processing integrated.

Yeah, it did say maximum number of downloads exceeded - or similar.

I use PCDJ Dex 4 and I believe it can use a song list/request by app option, listed under third party services, it's called KSR.

I am old school and still prefer to use song request slips
